Internship Requirements

To be considered for a CLM Internship, each applicant must have the following:
bullet Degree in conservation, biological sciences, or similar fields - must have a degree before starting internship. Spring 2010 semester graduates are eligible to apply.
bullet Enthusiasm, independence, strong work ethic
bullet Interest in land management and applied conservation practices
bullet Valid United States drivers license
bullet United States citizenship OR valid visa to work in the US

Each internship requires a unique set of skills in at least one of the following areas:
bullet Archaeology
bullet Botany
bullet Conservation
bullet Entomology
bullet Forestry
bullet Geographical Information Systems (GIS)
bullet Ornithology
bullet Policy (i.e., U.S. Endangered Species Act and National Environmental Policy Act)
bullet Range management
bullet Recreation
bullet Technical writing
bullet Wetland ecology
bullet Wildlife

 

Application Requirements

The following documents are necessary for an application to be considered complete:
bullet Cover Letter (pdf file)
bullet Resume (pdf file)
bullet 3 references (names, email addresses, and their affiliated institutions)
bullet School transcripts (to be mailed to Chicago Botanic Garden)

 

Cover Letter

Cover letters should be addressed to Dr. Krissa Skogen, Manager/CLM Internship. Please discuss the following in your cover letter:
bullet Why you are interested in the CLM Internship Program
bullet What you hope to gain from an internship.
bullet Specific knowledge/experience/etc. that makes you especially competitive for a CLM internship
bullet How a CLM internship will help you achieve your career goals
bullet Any additional information that may be helpful or necessary for us to know

 

Letters of Recommendation

The three letters of recommendation must be sent by the author of the letter, not the applicant. An email will been sent to each individual you list as a reference.  They will be directed via a link where they will submit their letter. You will receive an email notifying you that we have received each letter as they are submitted. Letters of recommendation should be addressed to Dr. Krissa Skogen, Manager/CLM Internship.

Letters of recommendation should discuss your:

bullet Background knowledge (coursework, etc.) and experience in conservation and land management issues (including but not limited to: botany, zoology, conservation biology, land and/or natural resources management, etc.)
bullet Ability to work independently and as part of a team
bullet Ability to learn and apply new information
bullet Any additional information that may be helpful

 

Official Education Transcripts

Your official transcripts must be sent directly from the school in a sealed envelope. Official education transcripts should be mailed to:
